Wikipedia explains what a Quinceañera is:
A Quinceañera sometimes called fiesta de quince años, fiesta de quinceañera, quince años or simply quince, is the celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday in parts of Latin America and elsewhere in communities of people from Latin America. This birthday is celebrated differently from any other birthday, as it marks the transition from childhood to young Womanhood. The celebration, however, varies significantly across countries, with celebrations in some countries taking on, for example, more religious overtones than in others.
(That was a quick explanation from Wikipedia)
Back to my own words! LOL
What I've found out from the Quinceañeras I've done is that every religion does it differently, according to what their religion allows them to do, of course. For example:
At a Catholic Quinceañera: The Quinceañera at the reception does the daughter & dad dance, followed by her court dance (if court are all males).
At a Pentecostal/baptist/etc (Christian Churches): The Quinceañera doesn't have a daughter & father dance, why? simply because their religion won't allow it. Instaid, they have games, or some of kind of worshiping music.
That's just a quick summary of what a Quinceañera is like.
Now, couple of weeks back I had the opportunity to do Kenia's Quinceañera. It all started at her house, & I'm just gonna let the photos talk by themselves. Enjoy.
Happy Wednesday!!
